"A recent study has noticed that violence in the class rooms has been decreasing over the past years due to online homework posting. The students, though angered by homework assignments are never near their teachers when being given the the assignment, and hence, have no way of lashing out at their teachers. This new homework giving technique has also allowed for ridiculous amounts of homework to be assigned, since the once common limiting factor of the fear of violence has been nullified through the impersonal cyber-method of avoiding any physical danger. Now teachers need exercise zero care for their students personal, if existent, lives."
Author Alfie Kohn says that "Homework has one solid benefit — mainly, if it is used as a tool to develop a love of reading. He also says that the point of education is to turn children into independent, critical thinkers that are responsible, happy people" (http://www.oxfordlearning.com/letstalk/2006/oct/2/the-homework-debate-is-it-time-to-get-rid-of-homew/).
